WordPress Tips for Affiliate Marketers

Last week I presented at the 2022 PMA Virtual Conference. As I did last year in the first PMA virtual conference, I was again able to combine two of my favorite topics — affiliate marketing and WordPress* — into one presentation.

In this nearly 30-minute long talk I shared over twenty tips primarily aimed at affiliate publishers who use WordPress. Like last time, I kept the focus on managing affiliate content and links to improve results (including SEO, site speed and security, and enhanced readership through better layout and marketing). I also updated my previous recommendations and added some additional resource suggestions to include more than 20 WordPress plugins. (Please note: I’m not recommending using all these plugins at once but they are some of my “go to” options I use to address these specific things.)

You can view the entire presentation below:

In Summary

The presentation shown above was broken down into five focal areas with a minimum of four specific WordPress plugin recommendations given for each area. Here are the five areas covered:

  1. Content — curation and presentation
  2. Links — updates and management
  3. Marketing — outreach and brand growth
  4. Social — interaction, sharing and style
  5. Security — risk reduction and optimization

In addition, I shared a virtual handout which you can view and download below. This handout contains additional details about and links to the recommended resources plus some bonus material.

*AffGeek (now Affilinomics) is part of Businesswright, my consulting agency. At Businesswright we separate most of our affiliate management and WordPress support projects into “sub-agency” focal areas: our affiliate marketing programs are managed through Affilinomics while our WordPress support is administered through Presswright. This “division of labor” allows us to specialize and optimize our delivery of technical expertise and ongoing support for clients. It also provides enhanced opportunities for us to assist publishers (affiliates) since we’ve found WordPress to be the most common content management system used within affiliate marketing. We are also curating an ever-growing list of affiliate resources.
